Strong is a very special song for me. I was at a point where I didn’t really have any direction in life and I felt as if I lost myself.
I was at the verge of giving up on my musical career, and then I wrote this song…
I still remember walking into my work office, I was emotionally wrecked. I played my colleague the new song, and as soon as she heard it, her face lit up like never before. She loved it so much that all the pain and confusion I felt suddenly turned into hope and determination. Knowing that my best friend believed in me and my music was a huge turn-around for me.
Thanks to Strong and the support of my best friend, I reached my goal and released my debut album Journey To Freedom. Because of this very reason, I wanted to shoot a very special video for this song.
I went from my mama’s bedroom all the way to Paris
Long-story-short, I booked my ticket to Paris, and my best friend Rebecca Mackay came all the way from Germany to help me shoot the video! (Check out her fabulous blog here!)
We had a crazy but fantastic time in Paris! We visited the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre Museum and we got McDonalds delivered straight to our door thanks to Uber Eats. I was very excited about that as it was my very first time using their app since it’s not available in my country.
Anyway, due to bad weather we didn’t manage to film everything in Paris. I decided to film the second scene of the video in a jungle-like atmosphere, the only problem is that we don’t have anything of that sort in Malta…
So I just turned my mum’s bedroom into a mini-jungle and it was so much fun!
For the third scene I went to Pembroke (Malta) with a friend of mine, and we filmed the remaining parts during the golden hour.
Strong is not just about losing yourself. Strong is an anthem for all the survivors who face abuse because of who they are or who they love. Even when the whole universe is punching you in the face, you still find the strength to face your demons and follow your own path.
